RESEARCH & STRATEGY

To understand the competitive landscape and identify opportunities, I conducted systematic competitive analysis of top-ranking physical therapy providers in Portland.

I analyzed the top competitors in Google search results to identify patterns in their success:

SEO Strategy:

  • Top competitor strategically named their business "Portland Myofascial Release," using the primary keyword in their company name

  • Leading competitors consistently used "Myofascial Release Portland, Oregon" throughout their content

  • Some high-ranking sites maintained active blogs with regular content updates

Online Presence:

  • All top competitors had active social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram) linked from their websites

  • Successful competitors incorporated backlinks to industry authorities and professional networks

  • Sites featured patient testimonials and clear service descriptions

User Experience:

  • Clean, modern designs with professional photography

  • Clear service information and easy-to-find contact details

  • Mobile-responsive layouts optimized for local search

Key Insight: Competitors winning in search results combined strategic keyword usage with strong content marketing (blogs) and social proof (testimonials, backlinks to industry experts). To compete, Quantum Therapy PC needed both technical SEO improvements and enhanced online credibility.

THE SOLUTION

My approach focused on three strategic areas: website redesign for improved user experience, technical SEO optimization, and building online authority.

1. Website Redesign: Before & After

The Problem: The site's outdated design and confusing navigation made it difficult for users to find information. The original main navigation menu (Home, MFR, About, Contact, Testimonials) scattered related content and buried critical resources like intake forms. While the client initially requested only SEO improvements, I identified that design and UX issues were limiting conversion potential and even if search rankings improved, the poor experience could drive visitors away.

The Solution: I recommended pairing SEO work with a complete redesign and navigation overhaul. The updated site features:

Navigation Restructure:

  • Moved testimonials to homepage (simplifying navigation and establishing trust upfront)

  • Created "About" dropdown menu organizing related content: About Us, What is MFR?, FAQs

  • Elevated "Intake Forms" to top-level navigation (addressing client concern about form discoverability)

Why It Matters: Clear navigation helps users find what they need without frustration. By grouping related information (About, What is MFR, FAQs under one dropdown) and making intake forms immediately accessible, the redesign reduces unnecessary steps in the path from browsing to booking.

2. SEO Optimization

Sometimes the problem clients identify isn't the complete picture. The client thought she needed SEO help, but outdated design, confusing navigation, and lack of online presence were equally limiting growth. By taking a strategic view of her business goals (expand client base) rather than just executing her solution request (SEO only), I delivered comprehensive improvements that doubled her business.

For local service businesses, success requires multiple pieces working together: being found (SEO), building trust (modern design + testimonials), and removing obstacles (intuitive navigation + easy access to forms). This project reinforced that effective design strategy means solving the real problem, not just the stated one.
